| About the Band: |
The story of our band is one for all those who dare to dream, to those who are willing to risk the death of their heart for the possibility of their bravest hopes coming true. In all honesty, I must confess that I am too weak to put it all on the line for a dream, cause no dream is enough for me. But the dream in cooperation with great purpose has convinced me to risk death. Perhaps you are like me, or still on the edge of taking a leap… you must make a choice to merely exist, or decide that it is better to love and lose love, then never to love at all.
This story is shared in the first person because it was the only way I could justifiably share it with the conviction and depth that I felt is due to the story of “Dying to Live”. So this is our story told from the perspective of me, Drew East.
We are not the first to attempt the full-scale climb up “cut-throat mountain” in the music industry, but unlike most, we truly believe in what we are doing. When we first got together, there was a haunting smell of hope in the air. It was like we saw what could be, but were scared of the odds. After all, how many bands have all the talent but can’t quite make it to “the show”? – Too many to count. – But nonetheless, for some unknown reason at the time, we didn’t let that stop us… we lived! To all those who have ever been blessed enough to do the very thing you were meant to do, you know what I mean. There is nothing like it! We sang, played, wrote music and performed for as many as we could from July ’08 to March ‘09… we couldn’t get enough. As our love for music bloomed, our desire to be heard by new ears seemed to lead us down a discouraging road. As time went on, music became more refined, but with our popularity remaining the same, our group began to fall apart.
Without getting into the gory details, the original band was no more. The hopes that had subconsciously become so expectant had been run over once again. If you have ever seen your dreams crumble right through your fingers, it is heart wrenching, depressing… demoralizing.
Then a test was set in place. Two members of the band refused to let go of the dream. When the Label called, we couldn’t have been more overjoyed, but I wish I could tell you that is when we achieved victory. But in all reality, the battle had just begun. We are now in the process of recording our first professional full-length album… then we have to get people to listen to it.
Here is where the rubber hits the road. When we signed to the label, we made a very important decision. Daniel and I decided we were going all in. We picked up ship and moved half way across the country just to be closer to the label. I know, it sounds crazy, especially since the label said we didn’t have to. But when chasing big dreams sometimes radical steps must be taken. So here we are, now living close to the label, and completely given to this dream of going the distance… for our cause… and because where hope remains, the pursuit of our dream will never fade.
It is our hope that whether we ever sell millions of records or not, that our story can encourage those who are wrestling with whether they are willing to risk such a terrible loss for the slim possibility of their wildest dreams coming true. We say do it… Don’t ever be afraid to live… Those who are too afraid to live, never will.
